Preparing a home for sale is also known as staging. Staging will help you sell your home faster and for a higher return. The number one recommendation is to de-clutter. Simplifying and pre-packing your home will open up space and make your home seem cleaner, more stream-lined and help the potential buyer see your house not your stuff. You will also want to take an objective view at the layout of your furniture, the paint, the kitchen, the closets, etc. Think about a model home. They are usually beautiful, neutral and simple. There’s not a lot going on. You want people’s eyes to go to the houses special nuances and not stay too long on your personal effects.
If all your neighbors are getting granite countertops, hardwood floors, and updating their home in general then you should do the same (if possible). There are some easy ways to update rooms without spending lots of money. Change knobs on cabinets, caulk around your shower and sinks, make sure dings in wood are repaired and stained with a stain stick the same color, and fix squeaks, leaks and broken light bulbs. Everything in the house should be extremely clean, odor free and welcoming. For more tips feel free to contact Paxem, Inc. (email@example.com) or your local Realtor.
